Household Cleaning Products
Household cleaning agents may seem beneficial to keep pathogens in your home at bay, but they can have adverse health effects for you and your pet. Disinfectant sprays, bleach, laundry detergents, and air fresheners can all cause long term problems. Remember that your pet is lower to the ground, meaning the cleaning agents used on carpets and floors can easily irritate them. If your pet is experiencing itching, skin irritation, hair loss, or chronic ear infections, take a look at the products being used in your home.

Lawn Care Products
Lawn and gardening products may keep your grass looking green, but it is at the cost of your pet’s health (and yours too). The U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, in a study of 9,282 people, found pesticides in the both the blood and urine of 100% of the people tested. The average person carried 13 of the 23 total pesticides that were tested (EarthEasy). Pesticides, weed killers, plant foods, and fertilizers all contain toxic chemicals that are not safe for pets or humans. Since your pets are close to the ground, take a look at the products used on your lawn.
Shampoo & Bath products
Bath products can also be toxic to your pet. Always bring your pet’s shampoo and conditioner to each visit to see if it is beneficial to their body via muscle testing. Oatmeal is a common ingredient in pet shampoos; however, it is a grain and can irritate the skin. We sell awesome pet shampoos here at our office.
